Sunday!

I guess feeling reconnected to music has made me go into my lyric posting mode.
The lyrics have always been my favorite part of songs...welll, slow songs, anyway!

What I've been posting lately are lyrics for songs that I find enchanting and brilliant.
In the case of Genesis' "Follow You Follow Me'...I've known that song since like the 8th grade and it was just OK.
I can't remember how I stumbled upon the lyrics for it recently, but when I read them I thought they were so sweet.
So that song is one of those that I now love after so many years of unappreciation.

The back story of how I came to love "The Beauty Of Who You Are" by Marc Broussard is boring, but I'll never forget it,
which means a lot coming from someone who has a hard time remembering what happened yesterday or earlier today!
I got the CD with my paycheck from Borders, back in the hayday when we could choose 3 promo CDs
when we picked up our check.
It was lucky I chose this particular CD, since I didn't know a thing about this artist,
only that I liked his manly, unshaven covershot & promising track titles.
That was more than enough for me! Haha :)

So I get this CD into my car stereo and all the songs on the album are good, he has a great voice, I'm digging it.
Then "The Beauty Of Who You Are" comes on and I am just utterly amazed by it, for lack of a better description.
Let's just say you know a love song is special when you are single and a zillion miles away from even the thought of marriage,
then you all of a sudden feel you want that song at your wedding!
Yeah, it's that good.

It's not sappy, has a lot of soul and it's incredibly moving.

Some guy on Twitter (@PaulBerney) posted his top 100 favorite songs pretty recently, one tweet at a time.
I didn't get to see all of the 100 tweets, but I saw probably 100-80.
There were soooo many obscure ballads, but they were all cool.
I'm pretty sure he has a back story for each of these songs, and it's that back story that makes these songs shine.
That song from Moby, "Love Should," was one of the upper 100 songs.
I had never heard it before, so I listened to a snippet of it on iTunes.
It sounded pretty nice, so I bought it.
One night I was listening to the "recently added" playlist on my iPhone, and heard the whole song.
OMG, it's sooo touching & pretty!
As it so happens, I've been going thru something in my own realtionship that is like SO inline with what this song is talking about!
So yeah, OH WOW.

I guess that whole thing has put the idea in my head to do the same sort of meaningful song thing.
A few people follow me on Twitter, but I don't know if they'd be bugged by me clogging up their feed, you know?
On LJ, I think right now I have at most one reader (Hi Beth!) if anything, so I'll get started here.

It's so weird when you want to be heard, yet anonymous, yet considered, yet not judged...haha!
Q:  How well am I dealing with all this social networking business?
A:  As well as any semi self-conscious, sorta awkward girl could!
Haha :D

There's a soft sweet space on the back of your neck
Smells like rain
There's a way you look at me baby
Heals my pain

I've studied every inch of your body
Baby what's on your mind
The touch of your skin just pulls me in
Every single time

There's a silent conversation
Filled with hidden revelations in your eyes

[Chorus]
Baby I'm so into you
Every whisper from your soul to my heart
Baby I know its true
You're a sweet little mystery sent to me from the stars
And that's the beauty of who you are

There's a faith you're savin' for a rainy day
I could use right now
There's a way you move my soul to sing
Only you know how
You are a sensual salvation
You're the holiest temptation
Baby I'm never, never, never gonna be the same

[Chorus]

I can't explain it or begin to conceive
All I know is that you make me believe

[Chorus]

"The Scientist" by Coldplay

Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are
I had to find you, tell you I need you
Tell you I set you apart
Tell me your secrets, and ask me your questions
Oh let's go back to the start
Running in circles, coming up tails
Heads on a science apart

Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard
Oh, take me back to the start.

I was just guessing at numbers and figures
Pulling the puzzles apart
Questions of science, science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart
And tell me you love me, come back and haunt me
Oh and I rush to the start
Running in circles, chasing our tails
Coming back as we are

Nobody said it was easy
Oh it's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard
I'm going back to the start

Saturday In the Park

Okay, I'm not actually in the park. but I AM in paradise!
It's beautiful & sunny...and just 81 degrees.
Thankful I'm not in the Midwest or NY.
The heat is deadly, I hear.

I start work at 3pm today, closing shift till midnight.
I spent the morning sleeping in a little, playing ScrambleWF.
Listened to a little Pandora!
It was a Carly Rae Jepson channel, and it ranged
from Blake Shelton's "I Don't Know Who You Are When I'm Not Looking" to Semisonic's "Closing Time."
Varied to say the least.

Talked to Jeff on the phone, as he's still in Hilo till tomorrow morning.
Couldn't decide what I wanted for lunch, so decided on this.

A delicious grilled salmon w/brown rice.
While at Mixed Plate, I saw a flyer posted for a fundraiser
for Fulton Tashombe.
This is a man known on Maui for being an excellent piano teacher & a nice man.
I only met him once when I was working at Borders.
I helped him find a jazz cd and somehow it came up that I liked listening to strings, like Yo-Yo Ma.
He found this Silk Road CD & told me I should listen to it.
And then he bought it for me, saying he wanted me to have it.
How kind & generous can people be?
Sometimes you come across special people.
I don't know what kind of medical thing he has, but definitely I want to help out in what little way I can.

Anyway, busy night again at work.
If I get even half the things I got done last night, I'll be quite pleased!

"Follow You Follow Me" by Genesis

Stay with me,
My love I hope you'll always be
Right here by my side if ever I need you
Oh my love

In your arms,
I feel so safe and so secure
Everyday is such a perfect day to spend
Alone with you

I will follow you will you follow me
All the days and nights that we know will be
I will stay with you will you stay with me
Just one single tear in each passing year

With the dark,
Oh I see so very clearly now
All my fears are drifting by me so slowly now
Fading away

I can say
The night is long but you are here
Close at hand, oh Im better for the smile you give
And while I live

I will follow you will you follow me
All the days and nights that we know will be
I will stay with you will you stay with me
Just one single tear in each passing year there will be

I will follow you will you follow me
All the days and nights that we know will be
I will stay with you will you stay with me
Just one single tear in each passing year...

My night!

New pattern! Put the Evernote Web Clipper on my phone. Awesome! I can put patterns, recipes, tutorials right into Evernote w/o having to copy, paste in notepad & email to Evernote.

Somebody has been hanging out with me all night! She's all tuckered out & snoozing :)

"Love Should" by Moby

So we sleep in a bed
We never make
Holding close to love
Love should fade
Holding on to this is the best thing we'll ever do

Morning sun is sweet and soft on your eyes
Oh my love, you always leave me surprised
I feel my heart starts to burst
With all my love for you

I know how it rains
I know how it pours
I never could feel this way
For anyone but you

I know how it rains
I know how it pours
I never could feel this way
For anyone but you

So it takes some time
And slip away
Holding on to love
Love should stay
Holding on to you is the best thing I'll ever do

Evening sun is sweet and soft in your face
I never ever leave this place
I feel my heart starts to burst
With all my love for you

I know how it rains
I know how it pours
I never could feel this way
For anyone but you

I know how it rains
I know how it pours
I never could feel this way
For anyone but you

This song made my cry when I first heard it.

"Magic Mike" Night Pics!

Joanne had the spread going on! I made a taco layered dip & more food arrived later. Yum!

Kathy passed out. I don't know what Aimee is doing to her!

Went to Keith's house to get Ryan. Leanne is eating this awesome looking soup. It was cold & windy. I was totally drunk!

Random thoughts on a lazy day off

Earlier today I heard the song "Brick House" by The Commodores.
It brought back memories of when I listened to that song every morning for months!
I guess I get obessessed like that every so often.
When I lived with my Aunty Jean in Hilo,
every morning I listened to the same song as I got ready for school,
"Mr. Loverman" by Shabba Ranks.
EVERY morning, without fail.
Hearing that song now, I always remember that period in my life.
I hated school itself, but the rest of my college experience was awesome!

When I was going out with Wade, the song I played for months on end was
"Housecall" by Maxi Preist.
I got ready for work or school listening and dancing to it.
I never got tired of it, and to this day I still love it.

Probably the longest stretch of song-playing happened with the song "Tipsy" by J-Kwon.
I listened to that song over and over on my car cd player for at least half a year.
I was going clubbing a lot at that time and I couldn't get enough of that song.
Catchy, and incredibly energizing!

Last night we watched "Magic Mike", first meeting up at Joanne's house for drinks.
Kathy got so wasted, she passed out in the theater as the previews played,
totally missing the entire movie.
Not that she missed much.
That was not the greatest show, though the eye candy factor was quite high!

Lately I've been completely addicted to Scramble With Friends, Twitter & Jimmy Fallon.
The song on repeat is "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepson.
Work has been good, busy as usual.
The buzz these days is all about the new store opening and who is going and staying.
It turns out I'm going.
Ready for some change!
15 years in the same store is long enough & I'm excited about opening a new place.
Should be interesting!
